Flashback Friday #2: 90s era kids shows on PBS

October 10, 2008

Maybe I’m biased because I was a kid in the 90s, but it was a great decade for kids shows. Like these two gems from PBS:

“He’s a ghost and he writes to us. Ghostwriter!” You can’t argue with the logic of that.

I also was a big fan of this show:

Awww! Wishbone is totally How to Talk About Books You Haven’t Read for kids.

  1. omg GHOSTWRITER! totally awesome show! i’d love to watch that again.

remember when they were using a modem to chat on the computer and we were all like “wtf’s a modem”?

  2. Hehe, yeah Ghostwriter was awesome. I totally remember the modem/computer chatting episodes, those were great. Back when the internet was just starting to be known and people were like “oooh, hackers!”

  3. I had a fatty crush on Jamal. The name “Jamal” has been neglected for far too long. My firstborn son has a big surprise coming, I hope he doesn’t buckle under the pressure of carrying on the legacy of 90s television tweens. Maybe a mandatory fade and a tail with red, black & green beads would warm him up to playing this integral role in society.

  4. Oh man, Jamal (both the name and the character) was awesome. It seems like there were a lot of Jamals circa 1992 and then the name kind of just died out. And the fade with colored beads is *defs* mandatory.
